Field Loses 28-20 To Coventry, Mogadore Comes Back to Beat Rootstown 29-12, Lake Wins And Springfield Loses

In week number nine on Friday October 15th, the Field Falcons (1-7) hung in there for a while and even made a spirited comeback attempt, but lost in the end 28-20 to the Comets of Coventry (2-6).  Mogadore (7-2) was tested from beginning to end, but prevailed 29-12 over Rootstown (4-5).  Lake (5-3) went to overtime to nip the Perry Panthers (2-7) by a 28-27 score, and the Springfield Spartans (1-7) were again walloped, this time by Ravenna (6-3) by a 50-7 score.  This was an odd week for Springfield as they played two games.  On Tuesday, the Woodridge Bulldogs beat the Spartans 46-6, and then Springfield lost to Ravenna 50-7 on Friday.

On Friday October 22 week ten will arrive and the season will end for Field and Springfield.  Field (1-7) is at Norton (8-0), Springfield (2-6) hosts Streetsboro (7-2), Lucas of Richland County (7-1) comes to Mogadore (7-2) and the Green Bulldogs (6-3) host the Lake Blue Streaks (5-3).   Field and Springfield are mathematically eliminated from the 16 team playoff field.  Mogadore and Lake are in the hunt.  Mogadore appears to be the fourth seed on Region 21 and currently Lake is the 11th seed in Region 7.

Wingfoot Lake State Park

wingfoot lake state park 20150623 1970716186

Wingfoot Lake State Park is Suffield's only park.   It was opened by the Ohio State Parks & Recreation Department in 2009.  Goodyear had operated the park since the 1960's as a private playground for its employees and for corporate retreats.  As the company footprint grew smaller in the Akron area Goodyear decided to close the park in 2006.  To learn more about the park, such as rental of the facilities, visit the park's website:  http://parks.ohiodnr.gov/wingfootlake

The historic Suffield Town Hall can be rented by residents and non-residents for various events.  For complete information on the availability, costs and regulations on renting the Town Hall, please call the Town Hall administrator Shannon Eldreth at 330-807-0384.

Front Page Articles

The articles on the Front Page of this website are written for informational purposes.  While most of these articles chronicle the discussions and actions at the township trustee meetings or zoning meetings, they are not the minutes of those meetings.  The articles are intended to summarize what was said or done.  The actual minutes of the meetings can be found on the "Trustees" page or the "Zoning" page.  Keep in mind that these official minutes are posted only after they are approved by their respective boards and submitted to the webmaster for publication.
